Billy's 750 Honda

Billy, one of my true home grown heroes. The man not only gave me my first motorcycle, he also helped me build it. (a mildly chopped XS650)

This is his 750 Honda grafted to a harley wishbone frame, with the german Steib sidecar that is on my dad's 750 honda today. Photo around 1973. More on this bike soon!

Some Updates

As some of you may have noticed RetroFit got a face lift. It was loooong over due!
Enjoy the new design, I'll be adding even more along the way. (If I can really get my act together I'll have stickers and t shirts available some time in the near future)

New column added with the scooters of RetroFit
Check em out! More links will be added to the thumbnails with build stories and updates.

October is my favorite month

So its time for some related art. These are panels for a storyboard I made to hopefully make into a 3d animation in the future.

Suzuki Update

I was able to just squeeze the frame in the sand blasting cabinet with about an inch to spare.

4 hours later of awkward turning and blinded by sand, the frame cleaned up quite nice.

After reassembly I noticed a problem. The rear wheel is not centered in the frame. But the chain was definitely in line with the motor when it was together. After doing some research I figured out the problem.
The rear wheel is not meant for the spacing of this this frame. The wheels are from a GR650 which has a wider swing arm.

The GR650 hubs and the GS550 hubs are the same except for the actual width of the hub.

Why am I going through this do you ask? because the GR650 is a 16" rim and I already bought these tires. I dont want to run a stock GS550 18" wheel on the back.

More updates to come.

Sometimes You Just Gotta Move On

Well the franken frame is fubared. I was getting ready to separate the hard tail from the frame when I spotted the hard tail was even bent. I cut it apart anyway and after looking at it, it looks like it was welded together bent from Taiwan Ted's factory. Oh well, anyone need a sportster neck?

So moving back to another project, my 1981 Suzuki GS550. More updates soon
